Freshwater Independent Lifeboat has received a £24,000 grant from the Department for Transport as part of an Inshore and Inland Rescue Boat Fund.
This grant will be immensely helpful to the life-saving organisation in obtaining some much needed equipment.
The money will be spent on 2 Mariner outboards for the D-Class lifeboat; 2 spare outboard propellers; a replacement winch cable system; replacement crew helmets; a VHF system for the launch tractor and a profroge tracsweep brush system for the launch tractor, among other things.
Martin Newnham of FILB has said:
“The FILB wishes to express its deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this happen, particularly the DfT and our principal fundraiser Rod Adams.
“We can now focus fundraising efforts on the major projects that we will need to complete in the next few years.
“While grants like this are important and very helpful, it is individual donations from the local community and businesses that are needed more than ever if we are to achieve our goals. We wish to thank you all once again for your continued support in helping us save lives at sea.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat received £20,000 towards a replacement launch vehicle.
