27-year-old Cameron Baker and 27-year-old Rio Scott, who are accused of killing Brading man Tommy Barton back in May of this year, have both pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder.
The duo appeared before Winchester Crown Court this afternoon (Friday) for a plea and trial preparation hearing. It’s here that they both entered a formal not guilty plea.
Mr Baker, of Leed Street in Sandown, and Mr Scott, of Park Road in Ryde, are accused of murdering 30-year-old Thomas Lee Barton on 28th May.
Police were called at 03:17 in the morning to an incident at 63A Park Road in Ryde in which Tommy was stabbed multiple times. He died whilst en route to hospital.
Following 3 days of forensic investigation and questioning, detectives charged Baker and Scott with Mr Barton’s murder. The pair appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court the next day and Winchester Crown Court later that week, where they were remanded until today’s hearing.
