3 people arrested after a toddler was hospitalised with concerning injuries have been released on bail while Police continue their investigation.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were alerted at around 09:30 on Wednesday morning (26th August) to concerns for the welfare of a 1-year-old boy who had been admitted to St Mary’s Hospital.
The initial investigation led to the arrests of 2 men and a woman.
A 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both from Ryde, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that all 3 have been bailed until 26th November, with strict conditions in place.
Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
Why have they been bailed , if they can cause such injuries to a child no oneis safe around them.
Insufficient evidence to hold them. Im not sure why these things get reported before there is proper facts to it, as it just creates a lot of hearsay around a tragic event. For all we know the kid had a bad accident like falling down the stairs and those people are innocent but hospital have to follow safeguarding procedures to rule out foul play or one of them did something but the others were unaware. Police will arrest anyone that had alone time with the child in the estimated time frame of the incident. If the police thought they were a risk to public then they wouldnt be released.
I agree. Trial by media runs the risk of innocent people having their reputation damaged or guilty people later being unable to be tried because the case against them has been prejudiced. These things should remain sub judice and unreported until it is same for the information to be made public
