Police on the Isle of Wight have seized controlled drugs and paraphernalia from a property in Lake during a raid this morning (Monday).
Officers from the South Wight NPT attended an address to execute a warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. After entering the property, officers seized a quantity of both Class A and B drugs.
1 occupant of the address has been issued an out of court disposal with a diversionary course in relation to the Class B drugs found in their possession. Another occupant remains under investigation for possession of Class A drugs.
No arrests were made during the warrant execution.

…..
and what sort of message does this send out?
you can have drugs on you, don’t worry, you won’t get arrested.
Why did the police waste so much time and effort in this, if they were not going to arrest those clearly breaking the law – might as well as saved the money and just phoned up the occupants of the property and said “we know you are holding drugs, please dispose of them or we may have to pop round to talk about it – don’t worry though, we won’t arrest you.”
What on earth are ‘out of court disposal with a diversionary course’??? This was just another waste of resources for absolutely no deterrent value! Please God will someone with joined up thinking take over Drug enforcement on the Island before we are completely overrun by Dealers and Users!
clearly another hand wringing, lefty do gooder has come up with this diversionary drivel.
out of court disposal with a diversionary – means that they never get to see the inside of court house, holding cell or a prison cell for the offences.
the police, courts and the system these days seem to be trying to rely on people not being criminals by choice, rather than fear of punishment – pah never works, never will
An out of court disposal (OOCD) is a method of resolving an investigation for offenders of low-level crime and anti-social behaviour such as graffiti and low-level criminal damage, when the offender is known and admits the offence. An OOCD can only be used in limited circumstances.
Should be executed literally!
