The Wightlink Warriors are in action at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium not once but twice this week thus serving up a double dose of high speed action.
This evening (Tuesday) it’s the one that really counts as there are league points up for grabs and a measure of revenge to go with those too, as the Warriors clash with the Kent Kings – the only team to beat the Island side at home this year.
Matt Williamson will again deputise for Benji Compton at number 1 for the Warriors, no doubt eager to repeat the double figure score he recorded against Coventry last week. The Warriors’ management are still awaiting confirmation as to who will replace the injured Nick Phillips at reserve, with Nick being ruled out because of the dislocated elbow he suffered as a result of his crash last week.
Kent will be at full strength with skipper Luke Bowen and Luke Clifton both having recovered from recent injuries.
On Thursday the Warriors return again to the Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde where they’ll take on a side representing a famous old British club — the Exeter Falcons – in the Solent Trophy.
There’s a dedicated group of people who have assembled the side to represent the Devonian city club and their own intention of making their dream come true, that dream being to see their famous club back racing at their own venue and staging league racing once again.
Looking ahead to next week, the Wightlink Warriors face 3 vital league matches. Firstly travelling to Kent’s Central Park stadium next Monday before taking on the Cradley Heathens at home on Thursday and then travelling to King’s Lynn the following day.
Tapes up 19:00.
