The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has airlifted a patient from Shalfleet to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth this afternoon (Saturday).
The yellow helicopter landed in a field off Corf Road at around 14:45 following a request for assistance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service (IOWAS).
The poorly patient has been airlifted across the Solent to Queen Alexandra Hospital – a specialist cardiac centre.
It is the second air ambulance incident in the West Wight this afternoon. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance airlifted another patient from Colwell Common near Freshwater shortly before 14:30 – just 15 minutes before the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance landed at Shalfleet.
