HM Coastguard has responded to reports of a dolphin washed ashore on the beach at Shanklin this morning (Monday).
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to Shanklin Esplanade at 10:04.
Coastguard officers have since located the deceased mammal, completed paperwork and passed the information over to the Isle of Wight Council for removal.
Another dolphin was found at Freshwater Bay on Saturday.
Islanders are being reminded to report such finds to the Coastguard. This is the same in the case of those mammals not deceased as HM Coastguard can coordinate an appropriate response.

Flipping terrible…
So very sad, these poor dolphins ending their lives on our beaches
Shows how times have changed, when I was a boy, if one was found, it was cut up and used as lobster pot bait.
Even history, if unpleasant has to be changed on here, or the flake’s will get you, and more than 99 of them!
