After spending the last 3 days at the vets, Daisy – who was hit by a car in Newport on Sunday night – has been allowed to go home. On Sunday 18th of February at around 17:30 long-term foster dog Daisy was left in a serious condition having been involved in a hit and run. The incident took place near the Victoria Recreational Ground in Newport whilst 14-year-old Daisy was enjoying a tea-time walk with her foster mum. Poor Daisy was screaming as the car went over her leaving a tyre mark on her little body. This devastating act has left Daisy in a serious condition and her long-term foster Mum and all at Friends Of The Animals in shock. She was initially cared for by the team at Carisbrooke Vets before being transferred to The People’s Vet wh o continued her treatment. Although still in pain and with a long way to go Daisy showed her gratitude to the vet this morning by licking his hand. To date, her treatment has cost £1,732.69. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is investigating the incident. A spokesperson from Friends of the Animals has said:
“This sweet natured and lovely little dog did not deserve this and we would be so very grateful if you would please help us towards this considerable bill that is likely to rise.” “You can donate on our website or by calling us on 01983 522 511. Thank you.”

Oops sorry this was meant to be a reply to someone who was being rude about the incident..
I am so sorry must have caught the wrong button due to being annoyed about his comment.
Over the years I have had many rescue dogs and know they are the best.
Extortionate vet bill, but they’ve got us over a barrell. I hope they catch the lowlife who did this and force them to pay all the bills. Most likely high on something or uninsured.
If you think that is extortionate then try Pet Doctors they will take it to another level, rip you off by unnecessary scans, haven’t got a clue what they are doing and oh they love taking blood tests for no reason other than ££. They put sales ie scan and endless consultations without any positive results above animal welfare. The most unprofessional, irresponsible Veterinary organisation I have come across.
