A number of sailings on Wightlink’s Yarmouth-Lymington car ferry service have been cancelled today (Saturday) due to a lack of staff.
Those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight will be disrupted for the remainder of the day due to absence of an essential member of crew.
The 15:00, 17:00, 19:15 and 21:05 sailings from Lymington and the 16:05, 18:05, 20:10 and 21:50 from Yarmouth have all been cancelled.

Nothing new here then !!!!
Shitlink
This is an age old and frequent reason given by Wightlink for disruption to services.
Our MP wrote a letter to all cross-Solent operators asking what assurances they could give to maintain a winter schedule.
The operators cannot do anything about extreme weather conditions, but, come on Mr Seely, Wightlink should be keel-hauled for this repeated problem caused by their policy of MINIMAL staffing levels.
I am not normally one to carp on at the Operators, but in this case, there is a solution!
What a truly pathetic situation. Wight Link should have a fall back situation other than cancelling this vital service that many rely on.
This is a pathetic reason to cancel a ferry service
Wait until CV hits the UK and Island, we will be on our own.
suspend the licence
Makes a change from “technical issues” I suppose.still the usual rubbish service we’ve all come to expect from wightlink!
Should be required by part of the licence to have a spare crew on call so as soon as someone phones in sick they can get someone else in. And if done 30 mins before crew due to come on shift will spare any disruption. But doing that will cost money. Profits over service. The only thing that makes these services bearable is the staff on the ground. Can’t fault the staff, it’s the management.
The real truth is the ferries are not fully booked in fact pretty empty. So instead of staff issues, just be honest and say we are cancelling certain ferries and combining two services into one. I think it is an insult to all Wightlink ferry users to blame staff issues of a fault with an essencial piece of equipment.
