A crash involving as many as 3 vehicles has resulted in the blockage of the main Newport to Yarmouth road at Bouldnor this afternoon (Tuesday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all responding to the incident, which occurred at around 16:30.
Island Echo understands a car has collided into the side of a van at the viewpoint car park.
Southern Vectis says it’s Route 7 buses are effected by the incident.
UPDATE @ 17:35 – Firefighters from Newport and Freshwater have worked to free a woman who was medically trapped inside a car.
She is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
The road remains closed.
