Hope all involved are ok
Just thought I’d add that route 1 buses are being diverted via forest road to whitehouse road going towards Northwood and towards park and ride. Advise leaving early to avoid disruption on your journey
I reported that this was a dangerous area to the police at least 15 years ago. I suggested that the road should end as two lanes at the turn off into St Mary’s Hospital. This was because at the time I was working in Albany and staff leaving the prison were putting their lives in danger every time they wanted to turn right onto the main road. The police came and had a look and did nothing, in fact, they said that anyone leaving the prison and stopping on the chevrons whilst waiting for a gap in the traffic could be fined. I suggest it’s worse now, so when will they do something about it?
I agree it’s a horrendous junction to drive out from. There have been so many accidents here and now this one.
It may be a horrendous junction to drive out from but they still misjudged the motorbike speed and pulled out in front of it. If in doubt wait for the bike to pass.
Misjudged the motorike speed? Never mind that they can’t see the bike because it’s hidden by traffic until too late, never mind that bikes habitually “filter” (what a daft description!) too fast. Must be the motorist’s fault, then. Sorted.
It happebed outsude my flat, it was very serious, with the biker being on floor and u can hear him screaming in pain from far away, hope he had a speedy recovery he has a broken femur we was told and a few other injuries
Very dangerous exit . The exit from Albany should be relocated. Not knocking all motorcyclists but my daughter and I was stopped facing down Horsbridge hill waiting and indicating to turn right into Nicholson St when from nowhere a motorcyclist came haring past us on the right hand side even thought we were indicating. Good job we hadn’t started the minouver !!
This part of the road is like a race track for motorcycles; particularly now the roundabout has gone. If the lights are green going north, I’ve seen motorbikes going at some speed going from the dual carriageway until past the prison. Nobody seems to let vehicles out from the side entrances such as the prison and Nicholson St.either. This is a dangerous stretch of road for both vehicles and pedestrians, at least the old roundabout slowed the traffic down.
Cars go fast 2 you know and they weight 2 tons it’s a accident don’t blame please
Simple solution here… ‘On Demand’ traffic lights on the exit from Albany.
Yes but people don’t want to wait for anything on the island
Stupid car drivers, always in a hurry !! Look twice in both directions, and THINK BIKE… too many so called drivers/ riders glance but do not look. Not everyone is driving at 20 mph….
