Police have erected a cordon in a car park in Cowes this evening (Monday) following what is said to be an assault in the area.
Officers responded into the town at speed at 17:35, with multiple units descending on the Park Road and Ward Avenue area.
Now, a cordon has been put in place around an area of the public car park off Park Road. A car is within the cordon but its unclear at this early stage if it is involved in the incident.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Police have confirmed that they were called to reports of a fight in the car park between Ward Avenue and Park Road at around 17:00.
A 32-year-old man from Cowes was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment where he remained until later in the evening.
No arrests have been made and the matter is under investigation.
Island Echo is told that 2 individuals got into a fight, which resulted in a Vauxhall Astra being damaged. As a result, a fight ensued – allegedly involving a metal pole.
