UPDATED: Tyres of Wight saw an appeal this morning (Wednesday) and has stepped in to help with the removal of the 150 tyres that were dumped in a National Trust car park overnight.
This morning the National Trust posted a plea on social media asking for anyone with information to come forward and assist them in finding the culprit who dumped around 150 tyres at a beauty spot in the West Wight.
Local tyre fitter Christopher Plant, the owner of Tyres of Wight, saw the appeal and has been at Jubilee car park off of Lynch lane this afternoon rounding up as many tyres as he possibly can and dispose of them in the correct manner.

“This lovely man has been up at Jubilee car park clearing and disposing of the tyres that were dumped there overnight”
“I think he deserves a big thank you – I know who I’ll be using next time my tyres need changing!”
Chris from Tyres of Wight said this morning:
“This is absolutely disgusting, I as a Mobile tyre service ensure all my scrap tyres are disposed of responsibly.
“This gives all the ones working hard and providing honest service with a bad name.
“Due to the cost involved in tyre disposals Myself, Michaela and Kai would like to offer disposal of 50 tyres.”
Chris is known to help out local island charities including the Isle of Wight Search and Rescue service over the Christmas period – free of charge.
UPDATE @ 20:30 – Tyres of Wight has managed to dispose of all 150 tyres with the help of D.H Price Motors in Lake and National Tyres in Shide.
Chris from Tyres of Wight said this evening:
“We managed to dispose of all 150 tyres with D.H Price Motors (Daniel Price) and National Tyres (Shawn) both calling me to offer with 20 tyre disposals each!
“A charity who are making an adventure course in Ryde also took alot of tyres to use in the area.
“We paid to dispose all the rest.”
This great news comes days after Hunt Forest Group said they would donate a brand new windscreen to Ryde Inshore Rescue after their launch vehicle – a tractor – was vandalised in the new year.

Top man! Thankyou!
Is no one asking where they came from, who dumped them and how they actually got here…? Is this tourist fly tipping or an island problem..?
