A fun-filled charity quiz night is being organised on the Isle of Wight to support 2 ambitious local endurance challenges, with funds raised set to benefit Isle of Wight Search and Rescue (WightSAR).
The ‘Gurt’ Isle of Wight Charity Quiz will take place at Robin Hill Adventure Park on Wednesday 4th March from 18:30 until 21:00, bringing together the local community for an evening of friendly competition and fundraising.
The event will support Rachel Richards’ “53 at 53” double marathon challenge and Jayne Merritt’s 100km Isle of Wight ultra-distance event.
Rachel, founder of WightWays and a local Healthy Habits Coach, is planning to run 2 marathons just 1 week apart in 2026 as part of her “53 at 53” challenge. The aim is to complete 53 miles across 2 events in a week to celebrate midlife strength and resilience.
Meanwhile, fellow Isle of Wight resident Jayne Merritt is preparing to take on a 100km ultra challenge around the Isle of Wight, pushing both physical and mental limits while raising funds and inspiring others to step outside their comfort zones.
Rachel Richards has said:
“We wanted to create something that brings people together in a relaxed, social way while supporting the journeys we’re both on.
“Endurance events can feel quite individual, but this quiz is about community; having fun, connecting with others, and turning miles into something bigger.”
The quiz night promises a welcoming atmosphere, with a variety of quiz rounds as well as hot food and drinks available. Teams are encouraged, although individuals are also welcome and can join a group on the night.
Funds raised from the event will go towards supporting Isle of Wight Search and Rescue.
Jayne Merritt has said:
“Taking on the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is as much about mindset as fitness, and knowing the community is behind you makes a huge difference.
“We hope people will come along, enjoy themselves, and be part of the journey.”
Tickets cost £5 per person and can be booked online at www.wightways.my.canva.site/iow-quiz.

Can someone please explain this sign for ROBIN hill? I would have thought that a ROBIN would have been represented on this sign and NOT some large exotic bird?
