A community campaign aimed at tackling climate change and improving resilience is expanding to cover the Central Rural Ward, which includes Godshill, Arreton, Rookley and Chillerton & Gatcombe.
The Greening Godshill campaign, led by Godshill Parish Council and Godshill Matters, is extending its reach in what organisers hope will be the first of many joint projects bringing local parishes together.
To mark the expansion, a community workshop will take place on Thursday 25th September at 18:30 in Rookley Village Hall. Residents from all four parishes are being invited to share their ideas, knowledge and passions for protecting and enhancing the local landscape.
The campaign is based around 5 key themes: creating habitats and encouraging biodiversity; tackling the health impacts of climate change; supporting energy efficient homes; promoting waste prevention; and boosting food security through growing produce.
Organisers say the initiative is rooted in community involvement, with the goal of shaping projects that reflect local priorities. Spaces at the workshop are limited to 20 people per parish, with a second session to be arranged if needed.
Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to contact their Parish Clerk or Godshill Matters to register. More details are available at www.greening-campaign.org and on the Greening Godshill Facebook group.

Great, these clowns will stop China and India burning millions off tons of coal….
China and India won’t be dictated to by the W est
They would have 2 words for Ed.
I trust attendees will walk rather than drive to the ‘ community workshops’ and not take any non-renewable and energy-demanding refreshments whilst workshopping. And be careful not to damage or threaten any biodiverse flra and fauna en route…
Most of those who attend these “wear your hair shirt with pride” gigs are National Trust supporters, who are pleased that 12 volunteer gardeners at Mottistone Manor have got the sack for not being diverse/woke enough.
