CHIMNEY FIRE AT APSE HEATH HOME

Firefighters from Shanklin are dealing with a chimney fire at a property in Apse Heath this lunchtime (Thursday).

1 retained appliance is in attendance on Newport Road having been alerted to the fire at moments past midday.

Specialist chimney gear is being used to bring the situation under control, with a thermal imaging camera also on hand to ensure the fire has not spread beyond the walls of the chimney.

Meanwhile, in Ryde, a wholetime appliance has been mobilised to Nicholson Road following reports of an alarm activation at a factory. No evidence of such activation has been found and there are no signs of fire.
