Islanders are being asked to keep a sharp eye out for 2 pieces of stolen machinery that were forcibly removed from a van in Binstead overnight.
A local contractor parked his work van in Bourn Close at the end of his day’s work and ensured that the items were secured with chains and padlocks. However, when he came out of his house earlier this morning (Thursday) he discovered damage to the van and items missing.
It’s said that an orange clipper floorsaw and a yellow Neuson whacker – used to cut and then compact tarmac – have been stolen.
The van was parked in Bourn Close, close to the junction with Binstead Lodge Road
Police have been made aware and anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101.

Tourists have arrived then..
I don’t mean to be controversial, but I have noticed an increased number of the traveling community living on the Island at the moment?
Police have been made aware but not interested
Say you think it was a hate or race crime, they will likely be there then
