A car on its roof at a notorious junction has resulted in Police, firefighters and paramedics rushing to Cowes this lunchtime (Thursday).
The incident has occurred on Mill Hill Road at the junction with Victoria Road, a scene of many crashes over the years.
Emergency services descended on the scene following a 999 call at around midday.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has mobilised several ambulances to the incident, whilst a fire appliance from Newport has also been sent.
Mill Hill Road is currently blocked in both directions, with the road closed from the junction with Newport Road.
Southern Vectis Route 1 buses are currently diverting locally until further notice.
UPDATE @ 13:01 – A white Skoda Fabia and a silver Mercedes A-Class have been involved in the lunchtime smash, which has led to the Mercedes coming to rest on its roof.
Thankfully, no serious injuries have been sustained.
No arrests have been made.
Recovery of both vehicles has been arranged, with the road to reopen in due course.

April Fools Day was yesterday
How do cars on the island keep ending up on their roofs
“It wouldn’t happen if the speed limit was 20mph islandwide!”
20 is plenty
With the world running out of fuel, I was under the
impression that speeds were going to be lowered to
save on fuel.
Maybe the news has not reached the island, probably
cannot afford the extortionate Easter ferry fares to get on
to the island.
more bad driving on the Iow
It’s unbelievable the amount of accidents that take place
on a daily basis on the island.
The irony of the Aprils fools post on echo yesterday ♀️
So true, HOW did it end up on its roof must of been going at some speed do you think?
NO SPEED CAMERA’S = SPEEDING MOTORISTS
I blame the authorities, they are not stopping motorists
speeding.
THEY HAVE THE ABILITY, PLACE SPEED CAMERAS,
INSTALL SPEED HUMPS AND PUT IN TRAFFIC CALMING
MEASURES.
SO MUCH CAN BE DONE TO TACKLE THE PROBLEM, BUT THE
AUTHORITIES CHOOSE NOT TOO.
MY ADVICE TO THE NUMPTIES IN CHARGE OF ISLAND ROADS
TAKE A TRIP TO THE BIG SMOKE AND SEE HOW ROAD SAFETY WORKS WELL.
I AM SURE SADIQ KHAN WOULD WELCOME THEM AND
EDUCATE THEM ON ROAD SAFETY!
Exactly Hay. What I really want to know is how drivers manage to turn their cars over. Is there one answer or several contributing factors? I don’t remember this happening on the mainland wherever I’ve lived over the years and before all the safety features like ABS came in. Without tempting fate, I’ve driven well over half a million miles and never come close to turning a car except when off- roading on very steep slopes. It’s obviously bad driving, but what sort/s of bad driving? Informed answers please…
It’s obvious, islanders drive too fast,
hence turning vehicles over.
Like I said the other day, treat everyone on the road like they are an idiot.
That is very true, I treat them like Numpties.
I have driven past that junction hundreds of time, never had an accident like most people.
You have to be a very entitled kind who obviously think give ways signs do not apply to them.
Easter parking on the Isle of Wight!
More absolute shit driving on the island how is it possible? its not that bad of junction just bad driving at the cost of plonkers driving..
Islanders cannot drive, they don’t know what to do
when they approach roundabouts either.
Numpties!
I wonder if making it a small roundabout there would prevent further accidents?
No, because Islanders don’t know they have to give way to the
right.
Lol
