A hatchback has ploughed through a hedge and into a field off Middle Road this morning (Friday). The incident has seen a VW Golf travelling toward Newport leave the road and end up in a field in Calbourne near the junctions with Brook Road and Dodpits Lane. The German motor has sustained significant damage to the front end and has created large tyre marks in the field before it came to a stop some 50 metres into the private property. Island Echo understands that the incident occurred at around 07:30. Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene but they have since left. Island Roads operatives are currently sweeping debris from the carriageway. 
UPDATE @ 09:30 – Police have confirmed they were called at around 07:00 this morning. No injuries were reported.

Another youngster probably who thinks they can drive at speed but who really shouldn’t be driving at all due to their immaturity, hope this teaches them a lesson before they become another statistic.

Love this bit of road can normally drive at a ton twenty along here no problem. These inexperienced drivers need to slow down though before somebody crashes into a field or something……….oh wait a minute

I love how everyone takes the piss. But what if it was medical. My mate passed out behind the wheel due to an underlying problem that no one knew about. There could of even been an animal in the road no one knows what caused that accident unless you where in the car. No one on here gives a toss about. The actual facts about what really happened. I had a friend who had a heart attack at the wheel he was only 19. He refuses to get behind the wheel ever again. What if that was your son or daughter. Or are you all to incompetent to think that way

Today has been a real eye opener to the vile people living on this island. My son was driving to work (something a few to many find hard to do) he was NOT DRUNK OR ON DRUGS he’s young boy who lost control of his car!! To read the vile comments about ‘next time try it without an air bag and seatbelt and let nature take its course’ is disgusting and I sincerely hope you are never in my situation and read these sorts of comments about your child
