Last Wednesday (11th May) 2 Isle of Wight Cycling Club riders, Liam Somerville and Faye Faber, travelled to Liss to take part in the …A3CRG 10 mile time trial.
With still conditions both riders managed to put in good performances with Faber stopping the clock in 22 minutes and 18 seconds, which also gave her the fastest women’s time on the night.
The pair then travelled to Rhigos in Wales to take part in a 25 mile time trial, which was attended by sponsored riders and even a commonwealth games competitor in the women’s event.
After driving the course the day before they were hoping for good times on the day, however a strong headwind would see a relatively slow day for such a well known ‘fast course’.
Faber set off at 09:36 and managed a respectable time of 56 minutes 48 seconds, this again gave her the winning time in the women’s event. Somerville set off at 11:17 and crossed the line in 54 minutes 01 second, giving him an impressive average speed of nearly 45kmph for the 25 mile course.
The next major race for the pair will be the Tour of Cambridgeshire which runs over 2 days on the 4th and 5th June.
