Briddlesford Road on the outskirts of Wootton has finally reopened today (Friday), much sooner than anticipated.
The work, which saw SGN carry out gas main upgrades, was due to last 7 weeks but has been completed in just shy of 4 weeks.
SGN has replaced existing metal gas mains and services with modern plastic pipes to ensure the Wootton Bridge community continues to receive a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
During the closure, Briddlesford Road was closed between Blacklands Lane and Briddlesford Lodge Farm with only access for cyclists and pedestrians being maintained.
The announcement was made this morning by QTM traffic management.
QTM may have announced it, but it’s the couple of SGN gangs that worked 7 days a week and worked their butts off to get it open early!

Similar to what airlines do, their estimated arrival time is half an hour later than standard flight time and then although they are late they say they arrived early and promote positive statistics to the masses…derren brown mind control.
Not worth replacing gas pipes when gas use will be stopped by the end of the decade. Waste of time and money.
Your deluded if you think gas will be stopped any when soon, there’s no realistic alternative other than hydrogen, and to use hydrogen they will have to upgrade the current gas network so chances are there just forward thinking and getting ready, so money well spent I say
You evidently want to wait and see, and that is not an option. Alternatively, we can try to save the planet by not burning it. By the end of the decade, heating will be gas-free and cooking will be gas-free. Renewable electricity will meet those needs. You might want to continue destroying the planet but most do not.

Good news this. It added quite a bit to the journey especially when Blacklands Lane was also shut!!
How many made the turn early doors to find it closed for…tree cutting…potholing…dog walking ..who knows? It is no good the workers having a go at vehicle users telling them the road is posted for closure when there were no signs out from the Wootton End? Yes there were signs from the Arreton and Newport ends.
I also see that Blacklands Lane was now been posted yet again for roadworks! How on earth do those that live there get over this?
I really do think that no-one ever sits down and discusses what they are going to do at the council offices? I also see a posted note for resurfacing of Mews Lane Newport? Eh? Private Road resurfacing.
