Brading Town Colts Under 14s and Newport IW Youth Under 14s started their final league game with an identical record of played 13, won 12, drawn 1 when they came head to head on Sunday, with only one team able to take the title of league winners.
With an identical goal difference of +95 the game was always going to be tight. Newport went up a goal in the first half, but Brading equalised in the second half to bring the match to 1-1.
Charlie Cooly put the the ball in the right hand corner of the goal to take Brading 2-1 ahead of Newport, a score that was set to remain for the rest of the match despite 8 minutes of injury time.
Eventually the final whistle blew and after several years of trying, the Bartletts-sponsored Brading Town Colts Under 14s won the league.
