Police have confirmed the discovery of a body at Mount Joy Cemetery on the outskirts of Newport this morning (Saturday) – the second such incident today alone.
Officers were deployed to the cemetery at Carisbrooke at 11:51 when the body of an 81-year-old man was found.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
The man’s next of kin have been informed.
The discovery came just 3 hours after a body was found in the graveyard of St Mary’s Church in Cowes. That death is also not being treated as suspicious.

Oh dear, so very sad may they rest in peace X
Very very sad thoughts are with the gentleman’s family X
there is a real crime here, a police officer with a man bun
Not respectful of the incident but is a sad fact of life that the once smartly dressed policemen of the 60’s have been replaced by a scruffy caricature of a police force.
