Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has welcomed the news that 3 Isle of Wight swimming pools will benefit from an investment of nearly £260,000 to improve energy and efficiency and keep running costs down. As reported by Island Echo over the weekend, The Heights in Sandown, Waterside Pool in Ryde and West Wight Sports & Community Centre were announced as beneficiaries of a Government funded scheme. The funding is as follows:
- Waterside Pool in Ryde will receive £128,297 to install photo voltaic panels and heat recovery units.
- West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater will receive £86,315 to upgrade its windows to triple glazing and install photo voltaic panels.
- The Heights Leisure Centre in Sandown will receive £43,625 to replace fluorescent lighting with LED lighting and fit shower flow restrictors.
Welcoming the news, Mr Seely said:
“I’m delighted the government is supporting three swimming pools on the Island. “Rising energy costs have put pressure on swimming pool finances. The government recognises this and has stepped in to help. “These grants will help to improve energy efficiency, which is great for reducing running costs, better for the environment and in the long run will help to keep more of our pools open.”

Let’s play where’s ,Wally sorry I mean Bob
Here he is !
I think everyone welcomes it Bob. We don’t need your input on this one. You probably would have voted for sewage being dumped in local pools if you were told to.
I do hope Dr Robert Seely MBE MP is grateful to all the hard-working organisations that generate the bandwagons he can climb on.
If only he did some work himself …
Bob’s around…. there must be a general election coming up soon….
If only Bob was concerned about Sandown charging people 50p to use the
Toilet.
Also 24/7 364 days of the year parking charges
This was money made available last March for immediate use to offset the rises in energy costs. It’s not new money yet Seely would like kudos for trumpeting it twice. Basically it means they’ve sat on it for as long as they possibly could to then use as a sweetener in the election year. Especially since they’re likely to lose.
Seeley would welcome Ebola if it meant getting his name highlighted in the media.
Nice one Pop Up, a small token gift perhaps bearing in mind the non existent island special deal .. and your still searching for anything to Pat yourself on your back .. suggest getting your CV ready for when the CON-serve- yourselves lose the General election .. and take the PCC with you too . You two are done . ! Ferries and crime are the worst it’s ever been
Everyone welcomes it Bob. It’s nothing to do with you or even about you. If you were told to vote for dumping sewage into the swimming pools you’d do it.
Welcome this, welcome that, will you take credit for this, like you do most things that you havent been involved in?
far cough bob!
Surely there is an error in this story — there is not a photo of Bob superimposed on the swimming pool!
‘I’m delighted the government are supporting three swimming pools across the Island’ . We’ll said Bob, after supporting the utter decimation of school sports fields, community sport centers and council funded sport facilities across Britain for the last fourteen years. All in the name of austerity, a lie constantly shouted by those who have, to tell those who have not, that it’s the only way forward. Also let’s not forget the greatest lie which is Brexit. We’re all still awaiting that benefit, any benefit. Fourteen years and we are all worse off. Culturally, financially, and future prospects for improvement are nil. Let’s have that GE now!
Bob Seely welcomes lol!
At least Mr Seely is local and doesn’t have to clutch a document to prove he is British as family been here for generations. Likely never hurt anyone in his life either. We could and eventually will have far far worse here then and only then will most of you dimwits understand. But of course all too late then.
I think you need to do your research as seldom seen isnt local, another deluded tory pilchard.
Despite detesting the man, I believe you are wrong Jonny. He lives in the west wight and has family history connected to the island.
Wrong. He lives on the mainland now.
Deluded gammon
Idiot. You are not even worth a second thought.
How about posting a picture of pop up Bob, bobbing in a swimming pool? What a great photo opportunity that would be. Come on Bob. Get on it.
Oh good the heights showers are filthy. I got athletes foot from there. Perhaps the staff will be paid better now and show customers some proper cleanliness. Too many people squashed in the only recently newly refurbishef, disgusting sweaty “health suite” Yuk.
