Festival organisers have issued important guidance to those attending this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, warning that chairs and blankets may need to be removed from parts of the Main Arena during busy periods for crowd safety reasons.
Attendees bringing chairs and blankets into the Main Arena are being urged to follow the event’s full policy, listen to festival staff and pay close attention to signage and on-screen messaging throughout the weekend.
Organisers say there will be periods where chairs must be folded away and blankets removed to help manage crowd movement safely.
Festivalgoers are also being asked not to mark out large areas within the arena using chairs or blankets. Chairs must remain free standing and cannot be joined together using cable ties, elastic or any other method.
Walkways around the Main Arena must be kept clear at all times and there will be designated areas beyond which chairs are not permitted under any circumstances.
Chairs are allowed within Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane and Electric Ladyland, although organisers have stressed they must not obstruct entrances or exits.
For health and safety reasons, chairs are not permitted inside the Big Top or Electro Love, except within designated accessible viewing areas.
Security restrictions will also apply to bags entering the festival site, including Strawberry Fields, Electric Ladyland, Penny Lane and the Main Arena.
Only small bags or day rucksacks measuring no more than 40cm in height will be permitted. Larger bags will only be allowed within the campsite areas.
Festival organisers have also confirmed that trolleys and tables will only be permitted within the campsite.
This is really great news as it was becoming very difficult to navigate the main arena, I just hope it is enforced by security.
So many rules in life but no one enforces the rules.

This is what festival goers bring with them to see bands? I suppose the age of the average festival goer is about 50. Compared to the original festival age demographic that’s geriatric
