BEMBRIDGE’S INSHORE LIFEBOAT RESPONDS TO REPORTS OF UPTURNED DINGHY

Published at:

Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat launched to locate an upturned dinghy reported to be off the coast of Ryde this morning (Friday).

‘Norman Harvey’ hit the water at around 08:11 following a request from Solent Coastguard to investigate the report of an upturned dinghy off Ryde.

Assisted by very benign conditions, the dinghy was located without undue difficulty at 08:19 and taken under tow back to the station.

It is thought that with the recent bad weather and high tides, the dinghy had been washed out to sea.

It is unclear if this discovery is connected to last night’s search off Fishbourne for an upturned dinghy sighted by Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight.

Bembridge ILB was re-housed by 09:39.

If anyone would like to claim ownership contact Bembridge RNLI on 01983 875138.
