Barton Manor in Whippingham will be opening up its gardens to the public on Sunday (8th June) for a Festival of Flowers in support of two local charities, Challenge & Adventure and Age UK Isle of Wight.
The day will offer a rare chance to explore and unwind in the wonderfully well-tended gardens of Barton Manor, including the tranquil Japanese Water Garden, and to feed the fish and resident birds in the lake. Representatives from Ventnor Botanical Gardens will be onsite to help with any gardening queries, and there will be selection of plants for sale from green fingered stall holders.
Away from the stunning gardens there will be a fabulous selection of local handmade gifts, jewellery and craft stalls to browse, and to keep you going there’s the BBQ kindly run by Vectis Sunrise Rotary and spacious café with a selection of delicious homemade cakes to indulge in. Throughout the day there will be performances from Dave B, the Jim Thorn Jazz Trio and the Isle of Wight Youth Concert Band.
There will also be prizes to be won in the grand fundraising raffle hosted by Challenge & Adventure and Age UKIW, with generously donated tickets for Seaview Wildlife Encounter and Owl & Monkey Haven, vouchers from Busy Bee Garden Centre and a grapevine from Deacons Nursey in Godshill, amongst many other prizes, up for grabs.
The Festival of Flowers at Barton Manor takes place on Sunday 8th June, with doors open from 10:00 to 16:00. Entrance is £4 for adults / £1.50 for children with under 5’s going free. Guide dogs only.
Benefitting from the afternoon are two worthwhile local charities. Challenge & Adventure works with disadvantaged and challenging young people on the Isle of Wight, using adventurous outdoor activities and tailored support to build their confidence, raise their self-esteem and help them to re-engage at school, at home and in the community. Age UK Isle of Wight is dedicated to supporting our older residents to love later life. They are in contact with, and provide support to, over 10,500 residents each year.
