The former Diamond Pet Supplies store in Ryde is to become a charity shop for the RSPCA. Signs have been erected in the window of the High Street premises, opposite Costa, alerting shoppers to the forthcoming opening. The RSPCA previously had a presence in Ryde for over 10 years, but the shop located next to Iceland closed around the time of the pandemic. Now, savvy Islanders will once again be able to pick up local bargains whilst supporting the work of the RSPCA on the Isle of Wight. All proceeds from the shop will go back to the animal centre at Godshill to support the rehabilitation, rehoming or release into the wild of the Island’s most vulnerable animals. Diamond Pet Supplies closed its doors back in March after some 40 years of trading in Ryde, as previously reported by Island Echo.

Just what we need another charity shop
Hey Ben feel free to open your own shop instead of moaning at home and not giving any value to the island
Quite agree . Too many and expensive now for donated goods. They’ll accompany the hairdressers and nail bars . Boring .
Isn’t the RSPCA the organisation you call to help
animals and when you do call them, the island branch direct you
to a mainland call centre.
I use to give a lot to this charity, not again!
They are as helpful as an Island Roads operative!
USELESS
they waste donations on woke diversity staff
DEI – Didnt Earn It
Or to put it another way, you think they “waste donations” on paying staff. So you’d like a shop without staff. Great idea.
Try not to refer to people as human as you and I in that offensive manner.
If you want to support an animal charity, try Friends of the Animals. They are a small Island charity, who do absolutely amazing work. Lovely staff and volunteers too.
no you didn’t
Just what Ryde needs, will they council only be satisfied when the town is completely full of nail bars, hairdressers and charity shops?
Its getting ridiculous now.
do something about it yam
I think we need another RSPCA charity shop how else are they going to pay there CEO £160000 plus a year/
Ryde town will soon be just nail bars, charity shops and barbers.
