A team of staff from Amey have used their community involvement day to remove litter from a popular public bridleway.
The staff carried out a litter pick and filled more than a dozen bags of litter from the bridleway that runs between Oakfield and Smallbrook Lane in Ryde. Among the items also removed included a bicycle, a pram, a tyre and even an old toilet seat.
While cleaning the area, the team also helped remove litter from the nearby Arc play area in Oakfield.
Paul Southall, Account Director for Amey, said:
“The team worked really hard in very warm conditions to help clean up what is a very popular bridleway that is well used by dog walkers and local residents.
“We were more than happy to spend a few hours doing the work as part of Amey’s community involvement scheme, and we are looking forward to taking part in further events in the near future.”
Each year, Amey gives all of its employees an additional day of paid leave to allow staff to carry out an activity that benefits the local community.
