The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is tending to 2 motorcyclists who have collided on Military Road at Compton this lunchtime (Bank Holiday Monday).
Island Echo is told that the 2 bikes have collided at the entrance to Hanover Car Park at Compton.
It’s understood 1 of the motorcycles was turning into the car park when the collision occurred at just before 11:40.
No one is thought to have been seriously injured and the road remains open in both directions, with the debris and vehicles moved onto the grass verge.
Today’s incident is at least the third road traffic collision involving motorcycles this weekend.
UPDATE – 1 person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be serious.
The second motorcyclist has been treated at the scene.

The standard of motor cycle riding on the island is appalling.
The standard of car driving is appalling
Too
Totally agree and it is not any particular age group, This afternoon, three cars through red light at Westridge lights, 1 bmw ( Island registered) through red light at roadworks Appley road, two Ryde Taxis double parked on Ryde Esplanade having a good old natter forcing traffic to go round them, 2 motorbikes speeding and dangerous overtaking near Ryde swimming pool.
The standard of driving is even worse John, trust me. I’m a motorcyclist.
and so is the car driving standard.my partner has a bike ,he’s a sensible biker and treats everyone on the road as idiots as many are…yes there are some who speak weave race! but EVERY TIME hes out on his he encounters awful car driving and its pure luck hes still alive tbh .so before you plebs judge bikers(of which I’m well aware they can drive like idiots)many dont and car drivers are the blame too much…..even other car accident with other cars.daily infact these days
Not as appalling has car and bloody Van drivers….
3rd accident involving bikes indeed, there will be more.
How many more car accidents you think there’s been? Clown.
And many many car drivers, many more will be along soon….
I said yesterday there would be a bike RTC the way they are riding two abreast down lake hill yesterday forcing cars to move over hope these two are ok
Loads of idiots coming over to the island treating it as a racecourse!!!!
They were all told it was the Isle Of Mann.
It was a couple of young bikers on 125cc out enjoying the sun and getting used to being on a bike and on the roads. CBT can only take you so far.
We all made mistakes when we started off on the roads. Hope they are both OK.
The island idiots way out number the mainland drivers…..Fact!…
Could it be that a biker was at fault here and not a motorist. Sacre Bleu.
It was the biker. It was a simple accident luckily no one was hurt badly just some bruised buns and backs
At least one of the accidents involved overners so not all Islanders .
The standard of most riders is diabolical taking dangerous chances & end up paying for their actions.
Standard of motorcycle riding on the island this week has been disgusting. When will people learn.if you are stopped by police for bad driving your insurance company should be told and you get hammered next year.
Have to agree, shocking and showing a total disregard for the safety of others in the extreme. Wheelies and speeding in Ventnor on Saturday, and at night when trying to sleep you can hear bikes speeding along the roads near where I live late at night, obviously racing at night, so where are the police?
There from the mainland those idiots they were in Ryde driving like twats the police need to b in the towns not worrying about military road I’m shore some rich mainlander will put a stop to every thing soon
The Military road is being treated like a racing track, irrespective of other road users… Some of these motor bikes are reaching speeds approaching 150 miles per hour …This is dangerous speeding and dangerous driving, very serious offences. Why are the police doing nothing about this.!!! Then there is the excessive noise from illegal exhaust systems !! If a family saloon was hit head on by one of these idiots, it is likely there would be fatalities in the car.
they passed 150 several years ago that lot..think youll find its the rider not the bike thats at fault so dont tar all bike riders now eh..
Quite agree right on all counts
Grow up you clown. 150 isn’t even quick. Speeding isn’t half as dangerous as you clowns with your music playing on Facebook while driving. The reason we have loud pipes is so idiots can hear us when they use the “didn’t see you” nonsense because they were too busy posting on Instagram instead of driving.
Well done Hitler, your irresponsible and infantile attitude proves my case. I have a good friend who is an Undertaker, I am sure we can get you a good deal !!
Maybe you need to have a re test.. The maximum speed limit in UK is 70 mph, Island roads are only safe at 60 mph Since Military road is a single carriageway, max speed is 60… and if you think 150mph is not fast, you should not be on the roads.
Can you let me know when you are going to be doing 150 when approaching the Z bend near Chale, so that I can come and watch!
Whilst I agree regarding loud pipes etc….you are not helping with either your attitude or your frankly stupid choice of name.
People that make their exhaust louder than the stock sound, are not insured, as they do not tell the insurance company they have modified the vehicle.. Plus the ones that have BLUE lights lit whilst driving/riding on a public road, NOT insured !!
I despise the vehicles that always creep over the centre line, especially on blind bends.. SLOW DOWN before the bend.. idiots.
You can get insurance with a modified exhaust, really won’t even push your rates up much at all. You sound a bit bitter tbh.
Yes Logic you are correct. Crossing the white line on a blind bend is suicidal. Sadly a lot of people on the Island drive with their heads up their bottoms, and dont look beyond the end of their bonnets…. I think ALL drivers and motorcyclists should routinely be re tested every 5 years as a matter of course. This will concentrate their minds on ‘GOOD’ driving and reduce the number of accidents and fatalities.
There needs to be a speed limit along the Military Road
I have seen Motorbikes lift off the ground with the ridiculous speeds they do!
National speed limit for single carriageways is 60mph… READ THE HIGHWAY CODE
You serious? You don’t think there’s a speed limit on the mili road?
Why stop there? What about speed humps?
You all need to get a life accidents happen the fact everyone drives at 15 mph in a 50 and 50 in a 20 maybe retaking your theory test to understand road signs will be a start. Also with majority of the island being the older generation with slower reaction speeds you need to have your eyes in every corner
Stay safe people
I see the island echo has got it in for bikers every time there is a R T A with a motorcycle its in the echo there are just as many car R T A but there not news why ?
