Santa and the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat crew were thankful for some amazing – and unseasonal – weather on Saturday.
Elves were busy helping to build Santa’s Grotto early in the morning ahead of for Santa’s arrival at midday.
It stayed warm and dry outside whilst visitors waited their turn, listening to the fabulous Brass Monkeys family band and saying hello to Leira the Icelandic snow pony.
Santa arrived in good time and chatted to 96 children in 3.5 hours, with each child receiving a gift – all thanks to sponsors Co-op Funeral Services, The Entertainer and Poundland.
Mountains of mince free pies were consumed as well thanks to Medina Food Services.
A total of £400 was raised on the day through generous donations and draw ticket sales. The Grand Draw, which has raised a total of £1,185 since August, was held at 15:30. Congratulations to the winners, especially Sam who won the top prize – a £250 Brittany Ferries voucher.
Principal Fundraiser Rod Adams said:
“This was probably our most successful Grotto ever, in no small part thanks to the weather. But I must also say that it would not have been possible without the fantastic crew and volunteers who give up so much of their time. Thank you to all who came along and made the day so very special.”
