An Isle of Wight supermarket has been forced to closed for health and safety reasons after a mouse jumped out of a woman’s handbag and proceeded to run around the store.
Island Echo readers reported that the ALDI store in Lake had been closed this morning with customers asked to leave immediately, with staff refusing to give a reason for the impromptu closure, shortly after 09:00.
The unusual move for any supermarket caused mild concern amongst shoppers, with many Islanders having to change their shopping plans or travel to alternative stores.
Our reporters can exclusively reveal that the reason for the closure was in fact a mouse – which is said to have jumped out of a woman’s handbag as she went to take her purse out.
The woman involved has revealed all about the incident which left her ‘dying with shame’. She said:
“Thank’s to the cat, I’ve just died of shame in ALDI. Last night she caught a mouse and this morning I found a dead body.
“Wind on to the part that I get out my purse to pay for the shopping. I undo the zip to take my purse out and a mouse jumps out and onto the floor.”
Horrified staff and shoppers are then said to have chased the mouse down an aisle before it disappeared out of sight. It’s unknown when the mouse will be captured, or if the lady has offered her cat to the store to help relocate the offending rodent.
Bet you cant beat that Sainsburys when price matching Aldi lol
Lol, brilliant, poor poor lady!
“Good Different”. err dont think so 😉
Oh the shame. LOL. Poor mouse!
They often have moustraps in the middle aisle. Just sayin….
Just WHY would you have a mouse in your handbag?!
Literally says right there…
Just WHY didn’t you read the article?!
… normally it’s the cat that is let out of the bag..
That is a huge mouse, how did they miss that?
It wasn’t wearing a mask i see, covid numbers will go up again..
Are you taking the MICKY
Yes, i get it, Micky Mouse,
All sorts get in , mice, rats, birds and insects – but to close whole store over a mouse. If that’s the case then all stores, schools warehouses etc would need to close too, what about the ferries. They have traps and poison under freezer’s, store room etc for such that can easily run in via doors etc. In old days the village stores had there own resident cat.
What I’m I missing? how do we get from found a dead body to a mouse jumping out of her bag. Does she have some pills in there that the world needs to know about
