The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to assist Coastguard Rescue Teams after a man fell from a height near Luccombe this morning (Sunday).
The incident has occurred in some woodland off Cowleaze Hill and has seen a male fall some 20 metres.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge are in attendance at the scene alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service including the Operational Commander and Enhanced Care Paramedic.
The air ambulance was scrambled from its Thruxton base at around 07:45, however it won’t be needed to transfer the patient.
Access to the casualty is tricky so Coastguards are having to remove a gate on the footpath to ensure the casualty can be transferred to a land ambulance.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – The casualty has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital via land ambulance – his injuries aren’t as bad as first feared.
The flying doctors have now taken off and are heading back to the mainland.
