The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has airlifted a seriously unwell patient from Ventnor to a hospital on the mainland this evening (Monday).
2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to an address in the town – thought to be on Mitchell Avenue – sometime before 18:45.
The patient was then driven to Ventnor Rugby Club off Whitwell Road, where local paramedics rendezvoused with the air ambulance team.
Island Echo understands the person is being treated for a suspected drugs overdose.
UPDATE – The patient has been flown to Southampton General Hospital.

If that’s what they choose to do that’s there problem!!
The air ambulance could have been else where to someone who really needed it!!
Wow really anon brave posting hiding.
The pot person you have no idea what they’ve had to live through maybe go out in the real world and see how hard it is !!!
Poor **
Obviously you posted this anonymously because you can’t face the crap you’d get for being so disrespectful.
Let’s pray that the person gets all the help they need . Obviously you are lucky enough not to have a loved one with a illness ,otherwise you would understand it’s not always a choice .some people unfortunately can not cope with life .They need help. You are obviously lucky enough to not have to watch somebody going through this.Try thinking of their family, before making such hurtful comments .
Vile judgemental person!!!
What’s happening to Ventnor, used to be so quiet and unspoilt.
On the surface maybe, but like most places there will be Drugs, Drink and other activities just below.. We are no different to anywhere on the planet but with the lack of Police and Community mental health teams on the Island I wouldn’t be suprised to see a rise in these things very soon..
Cherry anyone that does drugs does do at there own risk!
Therefore there own stupid fault…..
‘Suspected’ drug overdose!!! Bloody keyboard worriers. Unless you can guarantee a perfect path through life then don’t judge others.
