The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in the Undercliff area of Niton this afternoon (Monday).
Flying doctors are attending an incident in the vicinity of Castlehaven Lane having touched down in the South Wight at around 14:30.
An ambulance crew, ambulance officer and a community first responder from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance. Police officers are also on the scene.
The helicopter had just returned to Andover from a shout in Dorset when it was tasked to the Isle of Wight.
UPDATE @ 15:10 – A male patient is being rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance in convoy, accompanied by the HEMS team.
The air ambulance is expected to take off from Niton Undercliff and re-locate to the helipad at St Mary’s to rendezvous with the crew shortly.
UPDATE – The air ambulance failed to take off as expected due to a broken door hinge.
