More than 670 young footballers descended on Watcombe Bottom over the Bank Holiday weekend for Ventnor Youth FC’s annual Dave Goode Invitational Tournament.
The tournament was held in memory of the club’s long-serving treasurer Dave Goode, with members of his family attending to hand out trophies and medals during what was an especially poignant weekend as it coincided with Dave’s birthday.
A total of 62 teams from across 9 age groups – ranging from Under-7s through to Under-16s – took part across the 2-day event against the scenic backdrop of Watcombe Bottom, home of Ventnor Football Club.
Each age group was divided into Cup and Plate competitions, ensuring teams continued to compete throughout the weekend despite the sweltering conditions.
Every player received recognition for their efforts, with children awarded gold, silver, bronze or participation medals at the conclusion of the tournament.
The annual event once again proved a major success for Ventnor Youth FC, bringing together hundreds of young players, coaches and families from across the Island and beyond.
