The Isle of Wight Council have announced that the Cowes Floating Bridge will be out of service for 5 hours tomorrow (Thursday) as part of the continuing efforts to improve the operation of the vessel.
The Floating Bridge will be halted from 12 noon until 17:00 to enable Wight Shipyard to undertake trials to inform further improvements to the operation of the vessel.
The trials will focus on maintaining a minimum water depth over the vessel’s chains at all states of the tide.
A replacement foot passenger launch will be in operation during this period.

When will the council admit they have really made the Isle of Wight a laughing stock over a ferry that just does not work in any tide fluctuations as the old one did for so many years!! They have wasted so much of the ratepayers money on attempts to get it to work properly.
It would make headline news if it was working. It’s about time the council held their hands up and agreed its just not fit for purpose.
