Ventnor and Ryde beat mainland opposition but Shanklin’s winning streak came to an end on Saturday (17th June).
In Southern Premier Division 1, Ventnor saw off Portsmouth at Steephill with just 3 balls of their innings remaining.
Portsmouth reached a repectable total of 252 after being put in to bat before being skittled out in their final over with just 1 ball to spare.
Carlin Joy top-scored for Pompey with 46 before being clean bowled by Ross Whyte. He was supported by Stephen Warner, who made 41 runs before being caught by Bartlett off the bowling of Russell.
Ross Whyte returned the best bowling figures for Ventnor with 3-23. Henry Bartlett (3-36) also picked up a treble of wickets for the home side, with overseas professional Dineth Thimodya (2-53) taking a brace.
Ventnor surpassed the Pompey total in the 3rd ball of the final over with just a single wicket remaining. Tom Friend top-scored for the South Wight side with a knock of 55 before being caught by Duggan off the bowling of Marston. He was supported by Martin Blackman (34), Zeph Wells (33), Dineth Thimodya (33) and Ross Whyte (32).

Ventnor’s win leaves them in 6th place in the table after 6 games with a points average of 15.667.
In Division 4 (South) Ventnor 2nds maintained their 100 per cent record with a comprehensive victory away to Southampton Travellers.
Ventnor reached the formidable total of 336 for the loss of 4 wickets in their 45 overs. Ian Hilsum top-scored with 127 off 104 balls before being bowled by Ramakrishan. He was supported by opener Mark Fletcher, who put on 73 runs before being caught and bowled by Kevin Allen, and Toby Noyes who made an undefeated 72 runs not out.
Southampton Travellers could only manage 100 runs in reply before being skittled out in the 31st over. Jack Powell (3-12) was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers. Charlie Turpin (3-26) also came home with a treble of wickets. Harrison McQuillan (2-17) and Jake Toulson (2-19) both bagged braces.

Ventnor’s victory leaves them top of the Division 4 (South) table.

In Hampshire Division 1, Ryde comfortably beat Easton & Martyr Worthy by 82 runs at Harding Shute.
Some creditable knocks from Tom Durman (32), Kerry Rice (24), Jack Summers (35), Benj Shannon (41 not out) saw Ryde reach a total of 209 before being bowled out with an over to spare.
Economical bowling from Ben Gregory (2-21), Tom Durnan (3-43) and Kerry Rice (4-16) saw Easton restricted to 127 runs before being skittled out for 127 in the 38th over.

Ryde’s win leaves the Island side 10th in the division 1 table.
In Division 4 (South), Ryde 2nds beat Steep by 4 wickets with 8 balls to spare.
Steep reached the more than respectable total of 274 with captain Richard Pleace scoring 119. Tom Morgan (3-30) was the pick of the Ryde bowlers.
Ryde 2nds’ openers scored well in reply with Jordan Galsworthy making 84 before being clean bowled by Jonty Page and Simon Berendt hitting 63 before being caught by Slatter off the bowling of Ellis.

Shanklin & Godshill’s 3-game winning run came to a halt at Cadnam.
Shanklin won the toss and elected to field. It appeared that the home side would be dismissed cheaply as Cadnam were at 78-7 early in the innings. However, a knock of 75 by wicket keeper Sheath saw the mainland side safely past the 200 mark.
Ross Le Sueur was the pick of the Shanklin bowlers with 3-31 with Ben White (2-36) taking a brace of wickets.
Shanklin could only manage 162 all out in reply to Cadnam’s 203 with Le Sueur top scoring with a modest 37 before being bowled by Sam Godfrey.
