Police have arrested 4 people on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man in his 60s was allegedly assaulted in Cowes last night.
Officers were alerted to the incident on Milton Road at around 20:00, with multiple units dispatched to the scene. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also attended.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that they are investigating an assault against the male, who suffered facial injuries.
A total of 4 people have been arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They are:
- A 21-year-old man from Cowes
- A 19-year-old man from Cowes
- A 21-year-old man from Newport
- A 19-year-old man from Ryde
They all remain in custody at this time.

UPDATE @ 16:58 – All 4 men have now been released without further action, Police have confirmed.
It comes following the arrest of an 18-year-old man from East Cowes, who has been detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

With youngsters, generally, you get what you put it in. They are a reflection of the society they live in. If you treat their education, opportunities and mentoring as a joke like we do today, you’re going to wind up with jokers.

Yeah, that’s not how the prison system works. Once you go in, you are protected, cared for and catered to to a degree that would put most schools or colleges to shame. They won’t get jail for this anyway (what world do you live in?) Furthermore, there’s plenty of 60 year old men who are violent, and plenty who buy and often supply drugs to youths, and teach them how to be criminals.
