Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat assisted a 36ft yacht with a fouled prop off Priory Bay earlier on this afternoon (Saturday).
The ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ Tamar-class Lifeboat was heading out of Bembridge Harbour – having attended Brading Haven Yacht Club’s ‘Push the Boat Out’ Open Day – when she was tasked by Solent Coastguard to assist a vessel in trouble.
The 36ft casualty yacht, with 3 crew onboard, had reported that something was caught around the prop just off Priory Bay.
As Bembridge Lifeboat was close by, it did not take long to establish a tow and take the yacht to the Visitor’s Pontoon at the Harbour.
It is at the pontoon that Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team rendezvoused with the immobilised yacht.
Alfred Albert Williams returned to the boathouse and was recovered by 13:00.
