Wight Eagles Ladies kicked their season off in style after beating Waterlooville 4-2 at Watcombe Bottom on Sunday (3rd September).
Promoted from Division 4 last season, goals from Abi Joyce x2, Daisy Chapman and Chloe Lloyd secured the 3 points for the ladies.
Keeper Morgan Allen put in a player of the match display to help earn 3 points for the Ladies, whilst new signing Sammie Mumford – who was signed from Shanklin in the summer – dominated from midfield.
Player/Manager Ellena Boakes has said:
“I couldn’t be more prouder of these ladies today they put a massive effort in and with the heat it was challenging at times.
“Everyone has been working hard over pre-season to get fit and play the best football we can at this club and that showed on the pitch.”
The club would like to also thank Ventnor FC for providing the ladies with a Home pitch for the game as work is still being done on the Eagles home ground – we thank their Island Support.
