
The 20th Isle of Wight Marlins Masters Open Swim took place at Medina Leisure Centre on Saturday 9th February with a bumper number of swimmers taking part.
With 79 entries from all across the Island and the South of England there were some very competitive races. This included one of the younger Masters swimmers who was competing as part of her A Level’s.
The overall top swimmer on the day and the winner of the Charles Ambler trophy was the Island’s Jenny Ball with a haul of 27 points.
The top male and winner of a Paul Critchley ‘sculptglass’ trophy was Julian Halcox from Bracknell & Wokingham with 24 points, whilst the top female and winner of a Pau Critchley ‘sculptglass’ trophy was Susan Cummings from Banbury SC with 22 points.
The top team, who took home The Heights Memorial Trophy, were Bracknell & Wokingham with a massive 224 points.

“This was one of the largest number of entries in recent years and the quality and competitiveness shown by the swimmers augers well for the future of Master’s Swimming.
“With swimmers from 12 clubs it shows our meet is becoming a popular day and weekend away on the Island”.
