The popular Warrior Festival will be the first event to be held at Robin Hill since it changed hands. This year’s iteration will also be a 2-day festival, showcasing some of the Island’s musical talents and with the addition of some top headline acts from around the UK. 2023 was another hugely successful year for Warrior and the Brainy Bunch raising £14,000 to help support families on the Island who have been affected with brain tumours. The public transport links to Robin Hill makes getting to Warrior Festival 2024 so easy. As this will be a 2-day event, camping tickets will be offered for the whole weekend. The original idea for Warrior Festival came about when a close friend of the organiser was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. The help and support she received from The Wight Brainy Bunch inspired the want to give something back. For those who would like to stay the night, camping is also available. Toby Sleight, event organiser and member of the Foo Fighterz UK tribute band, has said:
“I wanted to put on a small charity gig hosted by the Islands Foo Fighters tribute band, but this snowballed as more local musicians offered to get involved”.
The Wight Brainy Bunch provides invaluable emotional support and financial assistance to families affected by the devastating effects of brain tumours. The charity was founded by Ryde Firefighter Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn, following Mark’s diagnosis of a brain tumour in February 2015.
