An East Cowes man has admitted outraging public decency after he was seen naked in the street by neighbours and passers-by, including a 15-year-old witness.
Tomas Vicas, 44, of Osborne Road in East Cowes, admitted a single charge of act of outraging public indecency when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (Friday).
Prosecuting, Serena Edwards, told the court that on the 16th March, Police received reports of a naked man walking in East Cowes. The description sent to them matched that of a man from a previous incident the day before.
Court heard witness accounts from some of Vicas’ neighbours who saw him ‘charging’ towards them with no trousers or pants on. Another witness, just 15 years old, said they thought they were “hallucinating” when they saw Vicas with his penis out.
In interview, Vicas said he was “so drunk he couldn’t remember”.
Defending the 44-year-old, Ava Ford, told the court that her client suffered from depression, anxiety and psychosis. She added that most of Vicas’ offending behaviour was triggered by alcohol misuse.
Court heard how Vicas has been engaging well with probation.
Magistrates adjourned the case until the 29th September where a pre-sentence report will be prepared.
