Police investigating a public order incident outside the Pavilion Bar in Ryde on Saturday (24th July) have charged 2 men and are taking no further action against 2 others.
As previously reported by Island Echo, multiple police units responded to Ryde Esplanade at around 17:30 on Saturday afternoon when an incident broke out near Quay Road, outside the Superbowl complex. A short time later a dispersal order was granted for the whole of Ryde for a period of 48 hours.
It has now been confirmed that 28-year-old Nino Bear Cavanagh, of Kestrel Way in Carisbrooke, has been charged with affray and using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.
32-year-old Scott Edward Cooper, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug.
Both men appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Monday).
A 27-year-old man from Ryde who was arrested on suspicion of affray and theft in connection with this incident has been released from custody with no further action being taken. The same can be said for a 26-year-old man from Wootton who was also arrested on suspicion of affray.
