Police have arrested, questioned and bailed a 15-year-old boy from Newport in connection with a stabbing incident in Church Litten park earlier this month.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police responded to the town centre on 6th October following reports that a 20-year-old woman had been stabbed in the arm and that an 18-year-old woman had been kicked and punched.
A cordon was erected around the crime scene as detectives launched an investigation into the incident.
Now, less than 2 weeks later, it has been confirmed that a 15-year-old has been questioned on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Investigations are continuing with the teen bailed to return to Newport Police Station on 12th November.

Welcome to the crime of wight
That’s good news don’t want people like that wandering the streets. Makes you wander what kind of future this lad is going to have if at 15 years he’s being arrested for possible attacks on women
If guilty this piece of feral scum should get a minimum 10 year sentence for carrying a bladed weapon followed by another 15 years for stabbing someone, these should be consecutive sentences and not the comedy concurrent type and there should be no possibility of parole
What mindset does a fifteen your old have to think it’s ok to stick a knife into anyone with the possibility to kill, what kind of parenting or schooling has he been dragged up in??….more worrying, his circle of friends that are from the same distorted world of hate and violence, will breed…God help us..
I don’t condone the situation but I’ve been told the full story and the group of youths had been defending themselves after both of the women who are transgender and where exposing themselves to the group who are mainly 15-16 year old girls and the fact this has been failed to be mentioned is also worrying the young man shouldn’t be carrying and needs tp be helped more than punished
I’m sure the young boy should have used his phone by taking a photo of the flashing and called police, however, no excuse for literally sticking the knife into anyone, whatever they’re sexuality or gender…
Playing way too many Xbox and Playstation games probably. Warped his young, impressionable, stupid mind!!!! Way too much violence in those games. Or listening to rap music……..
I have been playing PlayStation games and listening to rap music for many years, but have never once thought about stabbing someone.
Although I don’t condone this behaviour, I do feel like he should get some sort of punishment for possession of a bladed article. Maybe then he, and others, might think twice about carrying a knife.
Stabbing someone should lead to a conviction, regardless of the preceding events.
Whoever was exposing themselves to these (let’s be fair) children, should also be charged with indecent exposure. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone should be treated exactly the same in regards to crime.
Name please we need to stop protecting under 16s who chose to carry a knife
so sad to see young people doing things like this
Agree. They think it’s cool to carry a knife and will use it in the a heartbeat. A life can so easily be taken and they don’t think twice about it. Harsher punishment needed for anyone caught carrying a knife. Life for anyone who uses and takes a life.
So sad buts it seems to be norm now the police do there hardest to solve the crime goes to court and they get a slap on the wrist how disheartening for the police must make them think is it worth it
All we need to do is look at his family what chance did he have.
Do you this the young boys family or is this just speculation?
If he owns a mobile phone take it off him, watched an investigative programme early hours about three teenager children and one who was stabbed to death 7 times – all started with a message being sent by one of the murderers asking the 14 year old victim to meet up with them over a dispute on previous messages. Technology is proving more and more dangerous to the young, causing suicides, killing, injury, stress and anger. They are killers if used incorrectly and need stronger control for the young and even the older person suffering from mental issues.
stab him in the arm, see how he likes it,
Il bet hes had a better quality education and more opportunity laid before him than we ever did, we have funded him and this what we get in return, children are the future? Yes, and a bleak one indeed given the way these rats turn out.
Send the parents to prison with the boy.
Totally agree with you Voice of reason well said
so proud of my boy..
