1 man has died and another has been admitted to hospital after being taken unwell outside Shanklin Train Station last night (Monday).
Police and paramedics were called to Shanklin at 23:55 following reports that 2 men had fallen unwell outside the town’s train station.
Paramedics gave CPR and both men were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment, where 1 of them subsequently died.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have been in attendance at the scene of the mystery incident overnight, as first reported by Island Echo earlier this morning. A large area immediately outside the station building has been cordoned off.
British Transport Police are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the death.
Island Line train services are continuing as normal between Ryde and Shanklin with passengers being welcomed onto the platform via the side entrance.
UPDATE @ 14:48 – British Transport Police have now issued an urgent appeal for information following last night’s incident.

They haven’t said too much at this stage about why the men both fell ill. I guess all will be revealed once a post mortem has been performed. Strange both if them were bad. Must have been something they both had!!!!!
