Young people were amongst the officials invited to lay wreaths at the Remembrance Service at Niton Parish Church last Sunday (12th November). Bethany Taylor, aged 12, accompanied by Jayne Hill, Chair of Niton & Whitwell Parish Council, laid a wreath on behalf of Ward Councillor, Claire Critchison. Riley and Calum Potter, aged 7 & 10, accompanied Andy Osborn, Vice Chair of Niton & Whitwell Parish Council, to lay a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council. Other officials also in attendance were James Attrill, who laid a wreath on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant; Elizabeth Marsden who laid a wreath on behalf of the British Legion; Mary McCallum who laid a wreath on behalf of the Women’s Institute, and James Potter who laid a wreath on behalf of HM Coastguard. The service was led by Paddie Collyer. Andy Osborn, Vice Chair of Niton & Whitwell Parish Council, said:
“I think it’s really important to get young people involved in Remembrance Sunday as they will be the ones leading these remembrance events in the future.”
