Residents from Orchard House recently enjoyed a wonderful day out at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, where they had the opportunity to meet some of the donkeys and learn more about the important work carried out by the sanctuary.
The highlight of the visit was Orchard House adopting 2 donkeys, Eddie and Lola, something the residents were very excited and proud to be part of.
Residents were shown around by the sanctuary team and were delighted to see Eddie happily grazing alongside his friends. Unfortunately, Lola was not feeling her best on the day and was resting, so residents were unable to meet her this time.
Katie Schlepp, Activities Coordinator at Orchard House, said:
“Our residents absolutely loved the visit. Seeing Eddie happily grazing was such a lovely moment, and everyone was so pleased that we could adopt Eddie and Lola. We are already looking forward to hearing how they are getting on and hopefully seeing Lola next time.”
Supporting the local community is an important part of life at Orchard House, and residents are always keen to build connections with local organisations and support worthwhile causes.
The visit provided not only a memorable day out, but also a wonderful opportunity for residents to spend time together, enjoy the outdoors and connect with animals.
Orchard House looks forward to continuing its relationship with the Donkey Sanctuary and following Eddie and Lola’s adventures in the future.
