Voluntary and community organisations across the Isle of Wight are being encouraged to apply for a share of a £2.5million Government fund aimed at creating welcoming spaces and bringing people from different backgrounds together.
The Common Ground Award 2026 to 2027 is offering capital funding to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across England which are working to build stronger and more connected communities.
Individual organisations can apply for between £20,000 and £50,000, with grants of up to £100,000 available in exceptional circumstances.
Groups joining forces as a consortium can apply for between £100,000 and £250,000.
The money can be used to refurbish or expand facilities, develop new community spaces or purchase essential equipment such as furniture and laptops.
Funding is particularly aimed at organisations creating opportunities for people from different communities and backgrounds to mix and build understanding.
Projects which help reduce prejudice, discrimination and hatred, or support communities in resolving conflict and addressing tensions, are also being encouraged to apply.
Registered charities, community interest companies and some unincorporated community groups are among those eligible.
Applicants must be based and operating in England, have charitable, benevolent or philanthropic purposes and an annual turnover or income below £5million.
Organisations which applied for the 2025 to 2026 Common Ground Award can apply again, regardless of whether their previous bid was successful.
Applications must be submitted by 12th October, with successful applicants expected to be notified in December.
Funding is expected to be paid in January 2027 and should generally be spent by 31st March 2027.
